A goal in extra time saw us defeated 3 - 2 in the semi final of
the Houston Cup by Fleetwood Hesketh. We dominated the
early stages and Connor McCough put us ahead when he
headed past the keeper following Shawsy heading on a
Danny Green free kick. We failed to build on this lead and
Hesketh equalised and a few minutes later took the lead
to go in at half time 2 - 1 ahead. An early goal in the second
half from Greeny, when he fired the ball into the corner of
the net from the edge of the area, brought us level.
Neither side could get the winning goal in normal time
so the game went into extra time. The decisive goal
came in the first period when a shot from the edge
of the area was deflected past Speighty.
Hesketh could have added to their lead near
the end when they were awarded a penalty but
Speighty made a brilliant save.
So the season has come to an end and we have
finished third in the league and lost in the semi final
of the cup. A lot of progress has been made with the
reserve side so well done to Terry and Scott and all
the players and lets look forward to next season!
